Private Tour Guide in Israel – Masada as you have never seen before
Masada is a large table-mountain aside the Dead Sea and is most famous for its past – the mountain-desert fortress/palace retreat built by King Herod the Great and the most famous last-stand of the Jewish Zealots against the Roman general Silva in the year 73 AD, just after the Romans destroyed the Second Temple in Jerusalem.
Even if you have been here before and taken a full tour of the Dead Sea area and Masada, seeing the opera at Masada is something really special. It is called the Summer Nights Opera at Masada – this year in June (2015).
The whole set is outdoors with the mountain of Masada as the background of the stage. A totally modern theater is put up every year with all the amenities. It is not a black-tie event and you will feel fine there wearing just slacks and a button-down shirt or the equivalent dress for women.
The event is to far from Jerusalem or Tel Aviv to make it just a one-day trip. I suggest a three day and two night stay at the Dead Sea spa-hotels or Kibbutz Ein Gedi hotel. Reservations are best made with the opera offices getting a combined deal that will include staying at the spa hotels, transportation to Masada in the evening and of course the tickets. Your Israel Tour Guide can bring you here the day before the opera while touring Masada on the way. The second day spend lolling in the spa or the Dead Sea and the day after the opera leave back for Jerusalem or Tel Aviv while touring the Northern Negev.
Here are some videos of the operas. Enjoy.
